Chocolate and coffee in equal measure, with cream rounding the whole thing off. There is no carbonation, so the can feels thick and gets sipped rather than drunk down. Of the Java line this is the sweetest can and the one most recognisable as mocha. Next to Mean Bean, which sits on vanilla, Loca Moca is fuller and darker. The absence of fizz is what makes the Java line read as coffee rather than as an energy drink.

Java is an American line and reaches Europe only through import, so the size differs from what you are used to here: the cans are taller and narrower than a regular Monster. The print varies by generation in how prominently the coffee beans appear, which is the easiest marker for collectors to date a can by. Collectors who buy on flavour find little variation here; those who buy on design find plenty.
